Have you ever had one of those moments that felt too perfectly timed to dismiss as coincidence?
Someone you’ve been thinking about calls out of the blue.
A song comes on just when you need to hear it.
You ask for guidance…and life seems to answer.
These moments are like Divine Winks, signs that remind us that we’re not walking through life alone.
Recently I heard a story that stayed with me.
A woman noticed a couple on what looked like a first date and felt moved to buy them dinner.
Later that evening, the woman messaged her to say thank you. She shared that she was a widow and that this was her very first date since losing her husband. Before leaving the house, she had quietly asked God for a sign that it was okay to open her heart again.
The dinner felt like her answer.
The story could have ended there.
But it didn’t.
The woman who had paid for dinner shared that she took herself out because she had been missing her recently deceased father and decided the best way to lift her spirits was to do something kind for someone else.
Then they discovered something neither of them could have known.
Both of the men they loved had passed away on the very same date.
Whatever you call it, stories like these remind me that life has a way of whispering to us when we’re willing to listen.
I’ve experienced my own Divine Winks over the years.
When I was very pregnant with James, we were living in the middle of New York City during the pandemic. There were daily protests, the riots had begun, and as my due date approached, I found myself wondering how everything was going to unfold.
The day before what would have been my mom’s birthday, I was sitting in the nursery preparing for a work call when I heard shouting from another protest outside. I quietly said a prayer for peace.
Just then, a pigeon dove landed on the windowsill and looked directly at me.

Later, I learned that doves have long been associated with peace, motherhood, and the connection between heaven and earth.
It wasn’t simply seeing a dove that touched me. It was the unmistakable feeling of peace that came with it.
At that moment, my fear softened.
I remembered that I wasn’t alone.
I felt reassured.
Just recently, I had another one of those moments.
We were deciding whether to get another quote for the mold remediation in our home. I asked for guidance and then went about my day.
A song my mother loved started to play and then I turned the corner on my way home, and saw a mold remediation truck parked in my neighbor’s driveway.
Immediately I remembered that the very same company had been recommended to me weeks earlier.
Maybe it was coincidence.
Or maybe it was my mom again giving me exactly the reminder I needed.
Either way, I paid attention.
Most mornings, our minds wake up with a list.
What needs to get done gets our attention.
Our souls, however, seem to be listening for something entirely different.
A moment of awe.
A reminder that we are not carrying everything alone.
A glimpse that there is an intelligence quietly supporting us in ways our minds could never orchestrate.
Maybe that’s why these Divine Winks matter so much.
They remind us to pause, trust, and remember that we’re part of something far bigger than our plans or our fears.
So the next time you’re feeling uncertain…
Stop and ask for guidance.
Ask for reassurance.
Then, notice what catches your attention.
Maybe the miracle isn’t that life sends us signs.
Maybe the miracle is that, in the middle of our busy lives, we begin to notice them.
So much love,
