Are Your Emotions Getting the Best of You?

SHARE

Take this quick self-check quiz:

Do any of these sound familiar?

  1. You have trouble sleeping, relaxing, or notice muscle tightness, aches, and pains that worsen with stress.
  2. You overeat, snack, or distract yourself to avoid uncomfortable emotions.
  3. You blame others instead of recognizing your own power to create change.
  4. You want to speak up or set boundaries, but anxiety freezes your words.
  5. You overthink, overfunction, or “future trip,” unable to stay present.
  6. You shut down or say things you regret during conflict.
  7. You spiral into worst-case scenarios or self-criticism when things go wrong.
  8. You’re unsure what you want and rely on others to decide for you.
  9. You struggle to ask for or receive help because it feels weak or vulnerable.
  10. You prioritize other people’s emotions over your own.

If you nodded “yes” to even one of these, you’re not alone.

We’ve been conditioned to push emotions down to stay pleasant, productive, and in control. But when we do that, we lose access to our power, clarity, and calm.

In truth, your emotions aren’t the problem. They’re messengers, guides trying to help you return to balance.

Your emotions can drive you to exhaustion or become your very own GPS and steer you toward what you want and need for yourself.

Recently, I was late getting my son to school. The light turned green, but the car ahead didn’t move. After what felt like forever, their hazard lights came on. I slammed my horn, gunned the engine and swerved around them, fuming.

As I sped toward the next light, I thought, “What the hell were they doing?!” My emotions had taken the wheel, literally.

When I hit the next red light, I paused. I checked in with myself. The rage sat heavy in my throat.

What was I not saying that needed to be said?

The throat chakra is all about self-expression, honoring our needs and desires. I tapped my throat, took a breath, and asked, “What is my anger trying to tell me?”

The answer was clear:

My schedule was too tight. I was suffocating under time pressure.

I asked myself, “How would it feel to have more space?”

Instantly, my body exhaled. Relief.

Within minutes, I shifted from rage to peace, simply by listening to my emotions.

Processing your emotions isn’t about perfection—it’s about presence. When you pause to listen instead of react, your emotions become allies, not enemies.

Over the years, I’ve honed this skill through tapping and mindful self-inquiry. It’s transformed how I handle stress, communicate, and care for myself.

And now, I’m teaching these tools in my Emotional Mastery Course, starting next week, a six-week journey designed for your busy life.

Each week includes:

  • A 15–20 minute training to teach core tools and strategies
  • Two short energy-balancing routines (morning & evening) to release stress and restore calm
  • Emotional clarity worksheets
  • Supportive online community
  • Live Q&A sessions

As one past participant, Leo de Guillebon, beautifully said:

“Most courses teach you how to change your life afterwards.
This one changes your life while you’re doing it.
It’s something you can add to your day without overwhelm—because it’s the cure for overwhelm.”

Your emotions are not your enemy—they’re your compass.

The more you honor them, the more peace, clarity, and confidence you create in every area of your life.

Try it now, scan your body, and note where you are feeling any tension or stress, then do the exercise I shared in my Emotional Resilience Masterclass last week to relieve anxiety, upset, and worry in minutes.

Now, with greater calm, ask your heart what you need.

More ease, relaxation, and joy can be yours.
