It doesn’t have to be so hard: An Exercise to Bring More Ease and Joy Into Your Day

Most of us just had 3 days off from work, and going back may feel like “Ugh” today.  So, to relieve stress and be happier throughout your day, I ask you, “Why does it have to be so hard? Could you make it easier? What if today was more fun?”

The easiest way to relieve stress and be happier is to set a different intention and to move your energy in that direction.  

I grew up with the belief that, “If you work hard, you will be successful.”  Now, I believe you have to put time and effort into success, but I also know that time, energy, and effort can feel easy, fun, and rewarding versus hard and laborious.

So, if any of this is resonating with you right now and you want to improve your day…

Sit in this crossed posture with one ankle crossed over the other, right over left, or vice versa, whatever feels most comfortable. 

Then, stretch your arms out in front of you with the backs of your hands facing one another, cross your arms, clasp your hands together, and rest them on your lap as you repeat this phrase about 11x —

Little by little, I feel more and more ease, joy, and inspiration.

Rate how you feel before and after you do this exercise. 

It always surprises me just how effective this shift in mindset and energy can be. When I wake up and feel the weight of the world upon me, rather than fighting it, I redirect my energy and move into another state of being. 

And amazingly, things work better…

If I am running late, I miraculously catch my train on time. Then, a meeting gets rescheduled so I can take a lunch break outside and happen to run into an old friend I have been thinking about recently. Life flows more easily and brings me unexpected joy. 

So, anytime life feels hard, try this exercise, shift your energy, and see how you can turn your day around…turn a frown upside down 😉

You are more powerful than you know.
