Mercury Retrograde, The Full Moon In Pieces, And How To Approach These Intense Energies

Has your schedule been changing a lot?

Had issues with travel or transportation?

Any misunderstandings affecting your relationships?

Feeling reactive?

Over the last three work days, I have had six emergency cancellations.

Weird and serious things have been throwing a wrench in people’s plans and the ripple has had an effect.

Can you relate?

As all this was occurring, I thought…

Ah, Mercury Retrograde is in its shadow phase!

Today, after something I tried to pick up wasn’t available as promised…

AND, my cherished bike ride was feeling ruined because each of the THREE Citibike rentals I hopped on were broken in one way or another…

I just let go.

I chose to be with what was, broken gears and all.

I couldn’t peddle on the downhills, so…

I just coasted.

As I allowed gravity to do the work…

I focused on what was happening…

The laughs of the children playing in the park,

The wind moving through my hair and the trees,

The warm sun on my skin as I came out of the shade.

I turned my attention to the bigger picture.

Life goes on despite upsets.

We get to choose what we focus on.

While I didn’t get the workout and usual speed thrill from my bike ride, I did get an expanded perspective and a beneficial way to approach this next month…

  • With love instead of lack
  • Moving from my heart instead of my head

The next morning after spending extra time handling something that broke in the apartment—Thanks Mercury! Arggg!—

I was looking for some inspiring music to get my day going in a more positive direction and found the musical RENT.

Jonathan Larson’s message to seize the possibility present in each moment and to choose love over fear is so relevant right now. It lit me up!—

There’s only us,
There’s only this.
Forget regret,
Or life is yours to miss.
No other road.
No other way.
No day but today.
There’s only now,
There’s only here.
Give into love, (possibility, gratitude)
Or live in fear.
No other past.
No other way.
No day but today.”

The Pisces Full Moon comes into full bloom on Saturday, September 10, one day after Mercury, the planet of the mind, stations retrograde.

These two cosmic events unfolding back to back create a strong wave of energy that is likely to feel scattering, chaotic, and confusing.

If you are feeling out of sorts as the Full Moon peaks, come back to your center and see where you may be holding on too tightly. Release control. Let go of any mental chatter, let go of trying to understand and make sense of things, and instead, move into the space led by your heart.

Delays may happen.

Plans might suddenly change.

People may be reactive, even nasty.

The news may be upsetting.

You may feel unsettled.

And, you get to choose what you make it mean.

You get to choose what you do with your energy next.

“The heart may freeze
Or it may burn
The pain will ease
If I can learn
There is no future
There is no past
I live this moment as my last
There is only us
There is only this
Forget regret
Or life is yours to miss
No other road
No other way
No day but today”
-From Another Day, RENT by Jonathan Larson

As we move into this weekend with all the complex energies it is bringing…

Listen to your heart.

It knows what you need.

Seize your day by focusing on what you love in your life.

And, I will be sending you more tips on how to support yourself and even benefit from this retrograde next week 😉

So much love,
