This uncertainty has been bringing up old stress patterns for many.
Because the leadership of our country is being determined and big issues hang in the balance, I have found clients reverting back to old coping behaviors learned in childhood, like:
- Being self-critical in an effort to figure out what can be done or what could have been done to make a bad situation better.
- Worrying about worst possible case scenarios to feel more prepared.
- Over-functioning in an effort to control outcomes.
It’s a good time to notice any of these often unconscious, obsessive emotional patterns which zap your energy and no longer serve you.
