Last week the energy in the air just felt heavy.
It feels like the world is being shaken up, and negativity that has been there is being released.
Terror in Las Vegas.
Choas in Spain.
Now add London to the list.
It feels like we are being invited to grow and to elevate our consciousness once again. Yet, it can be tough to be positive when we are faced every day with so much negativity and fear of the future’s unknown.
Last Monday I woke up feeling disturbed, found out about the shooting in Vegas, and felt drawn to take my dog for a walk by the river to try to find some peace and perspective.
As we walked through the city on our way to the water, I was just getting more and more agitated. The peace I felt with fewer people out on weekend mornings wasn’t there, and everyone was anxiously and frenetically scurrying about.
When I finally got to the river, I felt compelled to walk over to the railing and stand on the edge of the pier to be closer to the water.
As I looked down and watched and listened to the water hit into the rocks, I involuntarily took a huge breath, then a sigh of relief. Quiet tears came down my face, I felt touched, emotionally moved and grateful to feel connected again.
I stood there staring at the water, trying to breathe in this powerful moment of oneness so it wouldn’t slip away.
After disturbing events, I often find many of my clients coming in with Root Chakra imbalances. Your Root Chakra is responsible for your sense of safety and security. Natural that it should feel rocked after this past week.
The reality is, bad things can happen, you can’t control what happens in the world, but connection to a power greater than yourself, often found in nature, can help you feel comforted and safe.
It does not matter what you call that higher power- Consciousness, Source, Mother Nature, God, or Spirit. Connection to universal energy can bring you a sense of peace and stability. The animals in the forest have no idea if and when they will find food each day, yet somehow they trust in nature to provide for them. While there was chaos in Vegas, I was able to feel peace at the river. While there was an attack in London, there were children playing in the park.
I walked home that morning at ease and peaceful, and I smiled at several people along the way hoping I could share this feeling.
We are One With All That Is, and that truth is present in science, as we are made of the same molecular stuff found on the earth. We can affect each other energetically and emotionally.
So I invite you to allow the Universe to touch, to inspire and to love you.
The world is in the middle of upsetting times that are creating change. It is upset that spurs growth and progress. While progress is in process, it is important to find your grounding and your strength in a power greater than yourself and to find habitual ways through which you can connect to it.
So, how can you connect?
Here’s a start– Play this short video, as you think this mantra, expand it full screen.
“I am One; We are One.”
See how your body reacts to watching this; I immediately exhale:) It can be so grounding.
Would love to hear about what you feel, write back and let me know;)

Life has a way of whispering in just the right moments. A friend sent this that same day:
The Peace of Wild Things
When despair for the world grows in me
and I wake in the night at the least sound
in fear of what my life and my children’s lives may be,
I go and lie down where the wood drake
rests in his beauty on the water, and the great heron feed
I come into the peace of wild things
who do not tax their lives with forethought
of grief. I come into the presence of still water.
And I feel above me the day-blind stars
waiting with their light. For a time
I rest in the grace of the world, and am free.
