How to Overcome Fear of Failure
So many people have come into my office of late in major procrastination mode, immobilized by fear. And, while it is winter, with Mercury in Retrograde till the 11th, not the best time for moving things forward, it IS an AMAZING TIME for pondering, musing, discovering and learning new things that inspire you! And, inspiration calms fears.
What stops most of us is fear of failure.
- “What if I spend all this time, energy and effort, and nothing comes of it? What if I fail?”
- “What if I put myself out there, and someone doesn’t like it?” I felt this fear a lot when I started my blog.
If any of these questions make you feel uncomfortable, it’s OK. As I always say, “Upset is Access if we are willing to lean into it.”
Failure is a necessary component to growth, and while it is disappointing, there would be no need to make any adjustments or improvements to what we are doing, if everything worked perfectly. How would we advance or be happier and more fulfilled without failure or disappointment?
Without failure, there would be no mastery! Michael Jordan explains how his success was built on failure:
Oprah truly built her dynasty on this philosophy:
Through her own personal quest to grow, she has inspired the masses!
It is often during a dark night of the soul that we dig deep enough to see our own light:
~Ralph Waldo Emerson
So, while it is dark outside, and we are spending more time in doors, I challenge you to just start researching how you might want to pursue some of your goals.
Quickly Release Fear with this Essential Oil Exercise:
In my trusty essential oil book, Releasing Emotional Patterns with Essential Oils by Carolyn Mein, She recommends to breathe in Peppermint oil 3x, as you think of:
- “Fear of Failure”
- Then, breathe it in 3x again thinking “I accept growth”
So, everyone here is saying the same thing; failure or the fear there of it, can lead to growth!
Have you noticed my goal here was to get you inspired to fail?!!!!! Oh no, not really; my goal was just to get you thinking differently about it!
~Mary Engelbreit
Often, it is really just a change in perspective that gets us re-inspired, right?
~ Sir Winston Churchill
See if you can find your enthusiasm by reading stories about how other people did what you want to do, or research different ways of potentially doing it! You don’t have to know how you are going to do it; just get into action by giving yourself the space and time to ponder and explore all of your options right now. This way, you will refill your inner reserves of inspiration, and start to create a plan, so when Spring has sprung, you will be psyched and ready!
I just downloaded two books I have been enjoying reading, The Launch by Jeff Walker and Listful Thinking by Paula Rizzo as I get prepped and ready to go thru Marie Forleo’s B-School again this year! I am in the process or re-doing my website, and I got so much out of it the first time, I am going to use my lifetime membership, and do it again!
I am sure your inbox has been flooded with emails promoting it, so if you are thinking about doing it, as I go through it again, I will be creating energy exercise videos to help keep you from getting stuck in your own muck/AKA- fears that come up, as we go through it together and doing one-on-one coaching sessions with anyone who wants to sign up through my B-School link.
I am really excited about doing this with you, as EVERYTHING I DID that Marie told me to do, worked wonders! It all just took longer then I would have liked, because of my own resistance/AKA-fears to doing it. So, I am psyched to help you clear your fears as they come up and to give my own site a facelift in the process! So, if you are in the process of wanting to start a blog, website or upgrade yours, join me, and get my Love and Encouragement B-School Bonuses and coaching to stay in action, so you make your investment work for you sooner then later!
