How to find peace and be a catalyst for change in this current climate

Yesterday was the literally the darkest day of the year, the winter solstice. It was the longest night of the year and the shortest day. The good news is that starting today, the days are getting longer again!

“The winter solstice is celebrated by many people around the world as the beginning of the return of the sun, and darkness turning into light….There is a rejoicing that, even in the darkest time, the sun is not vanquished. Sol Invictus — the Unconquered Sun — is seen once again, staining the horizon with the promise of hope and brilliance.”

The recent alarming and saddening events in the news have cast a gloom over this holiday season. This fall, as the days were getting darker so was the news. Many of my clients and class members have been emotionally and energetically affected by it. Anger, hate and fear all initiate our fight or flight response, which causes our central nervous system to be on high alert, which over time is draining. I have seen the affects of this in my clients who have been coming in complaining of feeling:

  • anxious
  • fatigued
  • depressed or
  • unable to sleep

Many of my clients are perplexed saying things like, “I am not sure why I am feeling this way. Everything is really OK in my own life.” If you have been experiencing any of the symptoms above, I highly suggest doing one or all of the below exercises to calm your physical reaction to just what is going on in our world. Between ISIS, Ebola, police brutality, sexual assault, riots, cyber terrorism, and now police assassination, we have been bombarded by bad news.

I always say, “Upset equals access.” And, the events that have occurred while tragic and upsetting are at least bringing attention to issues which need our unified attention to change. And, growth requires change.

Today our day will actually be a bit brighter, with more daylight. The next day will have a little more. Despite the current events…

Sol Invictus even in the darkest time, the sun is not vanquished. Darkness is now returning to light!

Christmas is this week. God’s son is being born. And even if you are not Christian, the hope and joy a new baby brings lights up life. Just think about what new ideas, policies, compromises could be born.

As a people and as a world, we can change. And, when we physically let go of our anger and fear, we actually lift our energetic vibration, and that effects the energy of our cities and our planet. When we release anger and fear, and we take well planned action, we have the ability to affect change on a more massive level.

So, even though, the events of this past fall may have you feeling a bit heavier and more tired, they can be cleared; the sun can come thru, your mood can lift and potentially affect someone else in a positive way, and who knows what growth could be born from this moment?
