What I learned from LeBron James
As I lay in bed doing work on my computer, my husband was watching CNN, and I was drawn into watching an interview with LeBron James.
This Super Achiever impressed and moved me, as he so eloquently demonstrated how to turn adversity into opportunity.
Evidently, he made an interesting comment on an Instagram post, which is below, and reads-
[box type=”shadow”]”Like, ‘Wow, Dad, you know what, I don’t know you, I have no idea who you are, but because of you is part of the reason who I am today.’ The fuel that I use—you not being there—it’s part of the reason I grew up to become who I am. It’s part of the reason why I want to be hands-on with my endeavors. So me in a position allowing people around me to grow, that maybe wouldn’t have happened if I had two parents, two sisters, a dog, and a picket fence, you know?”[/box]
I have noticed that my super successful clients don’t sweat the small stuff. When something goes wrong, they immediately just try to find a solution verses complaining about it.
When you think about it, we are really only as good as our last action, so what good does it do us to harp on the negative or what we don’t have.
As I always say, “Upset is Access.” When we are upset about the way something is in our lives, it’s just a sign that we need to start doing something differently to get a different result.
I mean the definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting a different result right?
Ninety percent of the people with whom I work have anger or resentment toward their parents, which is blocking them from moving forward in some other area of their life. The emotional freedom and real changes they are able to create once they release these feelings and get in touch with the good qualities and life they received from their parents are profound.
I worked with a former CEO last week. He had just received an offer to become the CEO of a major division of a company in China. This was a career changing opportunity that anyone in his industry would have jumped to take, and he was struggling with the decision. Although he had visited China several times, was a Chinese American himself, and loved his experience in China, he was having a hard time wrapping his head around moving there. He came in complaining to me that he consciously really wanted this, but it felt like something on the inside was holding him back. He was distraught, and unable to sleep. In our session we discovered unresolved feelings about his parents, which were linked to his Chinese heritage. When I helped him release those feelings and get in touch with the family qualities he admired, relief set in. He was able to sleep through the night and he now felt excited about taking the job he really wanted!
Amazing right? When we reject our family, we reject our own life force.
The only thing that is holding you back from taking the actions to get what you want in your life is your
- History
- Adaptive emotional patterns, which most likely are no longer serving you
- Natural fear of change
Our parents are a big part of our history. And, they did the best they could with the knowledge and awareness they had at the time. Even those parents who left were reacting to something that had happened to them. This doesn’t make it right, but what’s the benefit of continuing to not make it right?
Thanks LeBron for showing us what’s possible even when things don’t start out well. If dad had been around, LeBron maybe wouldn’t have looked to basketball as a refuge. He may not have found his passion. He may not have had a reason to need a passion to get him through.
Passion can carry us through tough times. Loving what you do makes it so much easier to do everything else in life. It also activates The Law of Attraction.
I had such a fun time and got such great feedback from the last workshop on Tapping into The Power of Your Passion, that I am doing it again!
Join us for a deep dive into:
- What turns you on?
- Lights you up?
- What taps you in to your self worth and your self power?
We will be doing some interactive exercises, which help you get to the essence of your passion. So, it will be easy to access your “why” when you are challenged.
We will also be looking at what makes taking action on your love or passion difficult for you:
- What beliefs from your past or parents make you procrastinate?
- What beliefs keep you in a rut?
- What beliefs stop you from feeling fulfilled?
And, as always, we will CLEAR THEM, release them physically from our bodies with exercises, which calm a fight or fight reaction to the flip, positive side of that belief, so you can feel comfortable, touched, and turned on by living your passion and making money doing it if you want to!
How does this sound? Are you in?
